Employers’ obligations relating to the dangers of asbestos

  • Employers are responsible to control and prevent exposure to asbestos dust in the working environment, because it is the entrepreneur is obliged to equip and maintain buildings, installations, machines and workplaces.
  • Employers should provide a report or give notice to the authorities.
  • If there are technical changes in the design of buildings or installation that could affect the levels of its dust at the workplace, the employer is obliged to establish and take measures to prevent its.
  • Employers are obliged to investigate the dangers of it or the risks to health prior to manufacture or use it so employers can immediately identify the actions that must be done.
  • Employers must provide equipment and facilities needed to monitor the working environment.
  • Employers shall ensure that all workers have been regularly understand about the dangers of asbestos to their health.

To reduce the negative impacts we can do some things such as:

  • If you are using asbestos roofing, asbestos paint is not a good solution to prevent the inhalation of its, use the ceiling to prevent dust and its fibers get into the house.

  • Use masks when conducting activities related to it.
